Requirements
Following the four-year undergraduate education, students are entitled to hold a title of translator and interpreter. In order to receive a diploma, students should be successful in all courses (240 ECTS in total) provided by the department and achieve a grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00.
Since the research and practice in translation studies is in interdisciplinary nature, the graduate program in German is based on interaction with different fields. Throughout first two years, translation and interpreting courses are compulsory to all students in order to acquaint them with both fields. Furthermore, the compulsory internship program in the department enables students to obtain practical experience and get in touch with the sector. There are diverse job opportunities for students in different public institutions (such as TRT, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Education), publishing houses, periodicals, film studios and international institutions. The students who particularly master in interpreting may work as conference interpreters in different fields such as medicina, law, automotive.The students who hold pedagogic formation may work as teachers at schools. They themselves may start a busisness and create their own work field.
